I have always wondered how a person with a broken leg can drive their car when they are this injured. I get it if say its your left leg and you drive an automatic, but what happens if its your right leg? I have seen two people in the last week who end up getting out of a car and then head back in to get a pair of crutches, what gives?
I did actually drive shortly after having had knee surgery. If you want to get around, you will work with it, trust me! It may uncomfortable, unsafe and inconvenient, but you do it. It's not a good idea, obviously, but getting up and around is part of the healing process. And no one likes being stuck at home.
A few years back my son broke his left leg, he was using a walking boot and crutches. He had to drive the family automatic and leave his standard transmission truck at home for the duration as he couldn't put pressure on the left leg.
