My SO is a horrible back (or front) seat driver. He will sit and complain about the fact that I am riding someone when I am over a car length or 2 behind them but he is also the first to complain when I am driving slow behind someone and tells me to go around them even if I end up cutting somebody off to do it. I tell him if he doesn't like it he can drive. How do you deal with backseat drivers?
I rip off the steering wheel and give it to them. LOL! I've learned to just ignore them. They don't listen to reason, so I don't try to reason with them.
It depends who it is doing the 'advising'. My responses vary from the verbal 'well if you don't like my driving there's a blanket in the trunk' to the silent seething, (if it is someone I can't offend openly).
I love that Top Gear! I don't have a trunk though just a cargo area in the back. I just let him drive most of the time because I get tired of the complaining. Although i am sure I probably do the same to him!
