Default Bells and Whistles

I have seen some nice commercials for cars that have lots of bells and whistles. One example is the ones with dashboards that look more and more like computer screens with pictures of the wheels and their pressure, temperature, radio stations, etc. I don't really know all things available.

I would like to know what else is out there in regards to new innovations. Are those innovations any close to been affordable to us poor people?

I don't think all the bells and whistles are going to be coming down in price anytime soon. Some of the older bells and whistles may start to become more of a standard though.

I think a lot of the things that come with cars are way too expensive. I personally like to go with the cheapest options because it makes life so much easier.

I'm not thrilled with all the bells and whistles, personally. There's a new commercial about a car that "sees" when someone in front of you slows way down, and the CAR slows you down... that makes me nervous. I think they are giving cars too much control!

MaximumSpeed, where did you read this? I have never heard of such a thing. I would be very concern too. I don't like giving control to anybody much less a machine.

You have to remember that the majority of these innovations can be turned off again. They are not compulsory, you don't have to use them. Nor could I afford them

I don't think I would need them. For me a car is to drive and ride. It doesn't need to have all the those bells and whistles a James Bond's car has.

Honestly, it would be great to have and use a James-Bond like car. But even if it was available on the market, I don't think I could afford to buy it.

In reading the manual for the SUV I bought awhile back, they make version of my vehicle with all kinds of programmable options. Way more than I would ever want or need!

Also, you have to think...the more bells, whistles, gadgets and electronics on a car, the more things than can break and go wrong with that car. Electronic climate controls, for instance, have been extremely unreliable, and digital readouts frequently go blank. No thank you!
