Default Name the color....

One of the bigger 'drudges' in the auto industry seems to be a lack of imagination when it comes to paint colors.

I'd love to see some bolder hues, like the metallic bronze and bright yellow-greens some of the import manufacturers are using. The darker, more sedate colors have been done to death (in my opinion, anyways), it would be nice to see a little variety out on the roads!

I think there is already enough distractions on the road to include florescent car colors. I wouldn't be lining up to buy a car that was neon green or bright pink or bright yellow. I can also see your point about there being no thought in cars these days.

I would love to see some different color cars too. I'm tired of the same old thing. You know what? You can have your car repainted and have it be any color you want. I'm thinking lime green!

Henry Ford was quoted to have said something like, "Customers can choose any color they want, for as long as it's black." LOL!

That's an absurd thing to do these days. On the other hand, while it's completely fine to have variety of colors, some colors distract a lot. Chrome and neon would be among them, I think.

Didn't John Lennon have a custom paintjob on his wheels, that was so bizarre it couldn't be driven on a regular basis?

Dodge Doll, I don't think you meant neon shades and metallics and things distracting, but I have to agree with the others that those colors would be a huge distraction to me.

I agree! The colors we have are so boring. Even the classic 50s cars had more variety than we do now. When I see a car that is not a regular old boring color, I can't help but stop and stare at it as it drives down the street.

You know, with the technology we have now, I think it'd be cool to add some detail-like graphics-into the paint jobs. I'm not talking about the gaudy customization you usually see, like images all over the car. But maybe some subtle images with a paint overlay...maybe like a 'car tattoo'....

I truly get tired of seeing that nasty bright yellow, it can happen on almost any model of any vehicle but it is just there at least in my area so much I am totally over it. I would love to see some unique colors though.

I like the metallic looking paint on some models now that looks like glitter in the sun. Although I woudn't want to spend an arm and a leg an a brand new paint job, considering someone will no doubt just come along and biff it, anyway.

LOL Great quote, I love it! Fortunately I like black and other dark colors, though they are not really advisable as far as safety is concerned. Anyway, I don't mind with the colors available now.
