Default What are the odds?

A neighbor had a huge dead branch in a tall tree they were not aware of, a storm came through last night and this morning we heard a large bang. The dead wood fell from about 20-30 feet and smashed through his windshield. Poor elderly man, I wonder if insurance would cover this?

Oh man, I hope he has full coverage and even then I have seen claims like that get denied. This almost happened to me once. There are a few trees beside where I park. One night a storm came in and I had this nagging feeling I should move it. So I went out and backed it up about 10 feet. About two hours later KABAM two large branches crashed down where my car had been parked!

According to my insurance, only a portion of such damage would be covered as it's classified as an "act of God". The deductible is higher, but the damage is covered.

OK see, that is what burns me! I really despise the whole "Act of God" thing. Not mad at God but at the insurance companies. They use that excuse because the are greedy sods who do not care who is suffering. They just do not want to pay out.

It's all about the money, and how little they can avoid paying out.

Still, a $300 deductible is better than eating the entire cost yourself, but it is a bit of an affront that it's an extra $100 for the deductible for "Acts of God".... PFFFTTTT.

I always tend to wonder what exactly falls under the "unknown" and "will not pay" part of the insurance policy. I can understand some stuff but then I hear horror stories from others and think that it should be paid out.

I agree, when you think about it, just about anything could be considered an "Act of God". What makes it worse is that is when people need help the most.
