Default Battery Maintenance for Stored Bike

Do you worry about your bike battery over the winter? I never have before, but was reading an article saying that it's hard on a battery to be left that long without being run.

It is hard for a bike or a car battery to be dormant for a long period. Personally I have never found any of the tricks, such as starting it up every so often, to work. You just have to boost it up when you are ready to use it again.

I don't have a motorcycle, but I have a boat I store for the winter. My manual says to take the battery out of the boat and store it inside during winter.

If you cannot ride it around every so often, you should at least warm it up regularly. And, I agree with Guy about taking the battery out when you are not using the bike for a long time.

Yeah, it's prudent to take out the battery if you're not using the bike for a long time. In this case make sure you put it on top of a wooden platform, not on concrete or on a piece of metal.
