My husband wants to buy a motorcycle to go to work so our gas bill goes down. I don't really like motorcycles and think that it is not such a good idea considering that most of the year the climate is cold and wet. How is he going to get to work then. Do you think that having a motorcycle really makes a difference?

It will save gas, but if he can't use it when it's cold and wet then there probably isn't much point in getting one. Perhaps if he drives a car that uses a lot of gas he should consider selling it and getting a less gas-guzzling car.

Maintenance on a bike can be costly too, especially if he has someone else do it. It will quickly eat into your gas savings.

You may save money on gas bill, but I concern about safety. A small accident with your motorbike may result in serious injury. As far as saving on gas goes, a smaller car (like Smart cars) maybe a better solution.

As far as saving on gas bills goes, I think a smaller car is a good alternative to a regular car. As Jason said, a motorbike can be costly to maintain.

If he's experienced with motorcycles, and he has a safe record with them, then it could be a big cost saver for you. If it's a short commute, the risks go down too.

Well, this really depends on your location. If it's just a few kilometers from the office (say, 5-10 minutes on the road), a motorcycle may be good. Beyond that, I won't recommend.
