Default Wearing A Helmet

I think wearing a helmet is mandatory in my state, but the one I moved from didn't require one. I absolutely hate wearing them, but even if they aren't mandatory, I do. I like having my head protected. What about you?

There is a state that does not require the wearing of helmets when on a motorcycle? That is darn scary and pretty backwards, if you ask me. I would have thought that was mandatory everywhere.

I believe that's mandatory everywhere. Perhaps the penalties for violating it varies. Come to think of it, even if it's not mandatory, for safety purposes one should one on every time.

I can't imagine why anyone would even want to ride a bike (of any kind) without a helmet. Having said that, many people forget to protect the rest of their body very well.

I have only ever been a passenger on a motorcycle, but I have always worn a helmet.

Want to hear something scary?

Twenty states and the District of Columbia have motorcycle helmet laws that require all riders to wear a helmet. Twenty-seven states have a motorcycle helmet law that only require some riders to wear a helmet. Three states (Illinois, Iowa, and New Hampshire) do not have a motorcycle helmet law.

In Indiana, the law requires helmets to be worn by individuals 18 years and younger. They used to require everyone to wear them, but they changed it. In Kentucky, it's 20 years and younger. In fact, there are a lot of states with laws similar to that. Check this out: Current Motorcycle Helmet Laws

I went to that page, Byker and was shocked. There are a lot of states that require helmets, but have age limits, like 18 or 20. That's crazy! I didn't know Kentucky only required them for riders 20 and younger. I thought it was straight-up for everyone. It doesn't matter to me, though, because if I'm riding a motorcycle, I'm going to be wearing a helmet.

Yeah, I think using a helmet when riding a bike should be mandatory everywhere. It's ridiculous that some people think that riding a bike without a helmet is cool.
