Default Advance Auto makes me soooo mad

I went to Advance today to see if they would read my car (check engine light again) and reset the light. I just bought a new gas cap from them and an O2 sensor. Some guy was working - never seen him before. He was like "I can give you the machine for you to take it and read it". Seriously? I said I was just in here a few months ago and the lady did it.

He went on and on and said he could not reset it and I couldn't either. I ended up walking out fuming mad. I won't be going to Advance again - I'll stick with Autozone.

Wow, that really sucks but most newer vehicles will reset themselves after 50 starts or 100 miles anyway. I have never had mine reset I just fix what they tell me is wrong and wait the 50 starts for it to go off.

My problem is I don't have 50 starts before I need to get it inspected. What if this isn't the main problem? I've already fixed 3 things - new gas cap, and O2 sensor and now a vent something or another. My check engine light is still on!

Well, I suppose you could sit in the car and turn it off and on until you get to 50 starts. It might be a little tedious, but if it works, it might be worth the time.

Well I drove it 50 miles and the damn light came back on! So it's a no go! I guess it doesn't matter how many starts now. I'm ripping my hair out with this thing. I'm ready to ditch it and buy a new one.
