Default Another good reason not to play around in the vehicle

My adult nephew was driving my other nephews and nieces and decided to be silly. They had stopped at a restaurant, and when they were back in the car but not in their seats yet, he hit the gas. Usually my other nephew lands in the back seat, but this time he was in a different position and hit the back window - and it shattered.

Oh, that really sucks big time. Is the insurance company going to cover it? Was the kid that hit it ok? This is exactly the reason they shouldn't give licenses to teenagers.

Oh my...., I hope your nephew hitting the window was OK. I agree with FB, they should have increased the age limit for obtaining a driver's license. Just because you can drive doesn't mean you are mature enough to get behind the wheel.

I don't think this indicates the driving age needs to be lifted. She did mention he was an adult. I think it indicates that people who are immature and don't realize safety issues should not drive, especially with children.

I hate to say this, but sometimes people need to learn lessons the hard way. From the sound of the story, he's done this before, so perhaps having such a drastic thing happen will make him think twice before doing it again. I hope the younger one who hit his head is all right.

Wow! That is scary!! My mom said that the driver should NEVER put the car in driving gear until everyone has their seat belt on. If he had done that, it wouldn't have happened, I think!

I don't think they turning it in to the insurance company. The younger nephew hit his shoulder, not his head, thankfully. I think it DID teach him a lesson (the older one). He has to pay for the window replacement.

I was reminded by this story of the time a couple left their 4 children in an SUV while they went inside to do laundry. The kids apparently put the car into drive and it rolled right into another car. Playing around in the car is not a good idea, period.

It is sound advice, and it's what every driver should keep in mind. I agree with the others about playing around in the car. It is childish, and it's dangerous.

Kids will be kids, isn't that the saying. I agree that they should not be fooling around in a vehicle. I can remember when I first got my license, I was always messing around. Thankfully nothing bad happened.
