Default Automatic Locks

Our truck has automatic electric locks like most vehicles these days. It automatically unlocks only the driver side when you park it. I often have items I want to get from the passenger side, but it's always locked on that side! Is there some sort of setting I can change to adjust this so they both unlock?

My car's electric lock does the same when I press the button on the remote. It unlocks only the driver's side. If you press twice it unlocks the other side. When I park I still have to press the auto lock button inside the car to let the passengers out.

That is odd. Mine unlocks all the doors when I park. My clicker is broken so that doesn't unlock anything but it usually is one click for driver's side and 2 clicks for the rest of the doors. I don't think this is something you can change but you could try calling a dealership and asking.

Nope, I don't think so. My new car is the same. You just have to hit the unlock button twice and it unlocks all the doors. Once is only the driver side door. You just need to get in the habit of hitting it twice.

Guess what? I decided to check the owner's manual to see if this can be changed, and it can. There is this whole sequence of steps you take to communicate the with car's computer. I haven't taken that part on yet. Will keep you posted!

Good decision! Sometimes I hate newer cars because they have too many features, most of which we wouldn't use that often. They have too many things to learn and the manufacturers also keep changing the systems and everything.

Mine will auto lock all doors when it is pulled from park, then auto unlock all doors when it goes into park. The only issue I have with mine is sometimes I still worry that one day I will lock myself out of the car and with my luck it will be when its raining or snowing.
