If you have children in car seats, it might be a good idea to go to this site (nhtsa.gov) and find a place near you where you can have them checked for proper installation and fit. It certainly can't hurt, and just might help!
It's amazing what you can learn from a proper car seat technician. We worked hard to find seats that were a good fit for our car, and I wish that more people took a little more time.
Almost as important as getting the seat fitted properly, is learning how to use it. The majority of children are improperly restrained any time they are in the car.
There are bunches of places that will inspect, after birth in most hospitals I know of they have someone on staff. Same goes with a fire station, someone is available to inspect if needed. Better safe than sorry any day.
Thank you for that tip. I didn't even think about the installation of the car seat being an issue until now. I'm going to have a baby soon, so this is really helpful!
