Am I the only one who sees all of the costs of car care maintenance sky rocketing?
I usually change my own oil, I haven't found the time lately. I pulled into a local place yesterday to see if it could be done quickly. They had space to do it, but wanted $49 + tax. I said no thanks, and I'll try to fit it in this week. I can't imagine paying $50 for that. I know how little it actually costs!
I always use oil changing places. It's too much trouble to change it myself. So far, the prices here haven't gone over $25 or $30 - including oil. Sorry it's so expensive where you are!
Maintenance costs are generally higher when the car is brand new and when it's ten years old or older. The $49 you were quoted really isn't that bad. The cost for a quart of oil has risen substantially lately. I remember not that long ago when you could buy a quart of oil for two dollars. Now it's almost five dollars. It's rediculous!
