Distance to Empty
My car has a Distance to Empty counter on it that is a real lifesaver, but it jumps around like mad. I'll be driving down the road with it showing 48 miles to empty, and, within the three mile drive to the corner, I'm down to 35 miles left. By the time I get in town (another 4 or 5 miles) I'm down to 26 miles. If I park and turn off the engine, when I get back in I may be down to 14 miles or I could be back up to 40.
I suppose I should just listen to my dad and not let it go below a quarter tank and then I won't have to worry about it.
