Default Ice in the driveway

The icy conditions have lent themselves to an icy driveway, which is where the Missus parks her van. It's as slick as goose sh*t, and she won't let me salt it: she says the salt will ruin the dormant plants and bulbs in her flower beds (alongside the driveway).

What can I use to deal with the ice that ISN'T toxic to the flower beds that border the driveway?
