Default Jiffy Lube?

I've had a hard time trusting Jiffy lube, ever since the news broke a few years ago about them scamming customers. I do my own oil changes so it really doesn't matter, but are they trustworthy again. I know a lot of people that still go there, and I'm wondering if they've really changed their ways.

I never heard about them scamming people. Was it a widespread thing, or was it more localized within a region. I don't do business with them, but I'm curious.

Oh maybe it was just my area? They sent undercover videos into many, many locations. They showed that they weren't actually changing anyone's oil. They would add 1qt. of oil to the old oil and that was it. It wasn't just one location though, it was at 10-15 of them.

I went to Jiffy Lube a couple weeks ago with the wife's car. I was amazed to see that the lobby had quite a few big screen televisions on the wall. Each of these televisions were live feeds of the vehicles in the garage. The angles were good on the cameras and allowed you too see your engine as well as the underside of the motor where the oil drains out. I was happy with the oil change and had no problem leaving the car for a bit to get lunch.

I've just heard too many horror stories about these kinds of places to trust them with my car. Not putting in enough oil, leaving the drain plug off, leaving the oil cap off....no thank you! I'll let my local mechanic change my oil. I trust him.

I don't know about Jiffy Lube, but I know we've had questions about the lube places we've been to, too. I know they check off stuff that they definitely didn't do, sometimes.
