For the last week or so my car alarm has started going off randomly throughout the day. I can shut it off but it's annoying, especially when I'm in a store and I hear my car start honking. Somebody mentioned that the heat could be causing it to happen. Is that true? If that's the case, why does it seem like it's just my car!?

I had a similar issue before. I suggest that you check any loose wires or tape. A piece of my alarm near the driver's side had a piece of tape that was coming loose. When I fixed it, the problem stopped. You might want to double check for something like that.

I would also watch where the car is during the day. I have heard both stories of garage door openers setting off car alarms and other car alarms working the same frequency as your own that set them off. Its a pain, but solve it quick before the headache stays.

Wow I had never heard that garage door openers could set off car alarms. I wonder what other kind of devices can do that. If it always happens at the same location that's another option.

Maybe your car is haunted. If it is not that then some electric sensor has gone bad and is now over sensitive. If the wind blows or a chipmunk runs by and it goes off then there is a problem.
