Default Ran out of gas!

Hey all! I just came across the forum because I was irritated about running out of gas on the way home from work this morning.

So commiserate with me, who else has ran out of gas for whatever reason. Mine of course wasn't a good one. I figured it couldn't be that low, and I could make it home. Hope I've learned my lesson after walking 3 miles to the gas station and then back to my car in the rain.

I wish I could commiserate (nah), but I can't. I am so afraid about running out of gas that I always fill it up as soon as it close to a quarter tank. The good thing about new cars is that they tell you how much farther you can travel before the car stops on you.

Default We've all been there...

I think that most of us have run out of gas at some point in our lives and if you haven't there is a good chance you will one day. It has been years since it has happened to me though. Once I learned how bad it is to run your car on a low tank, I started keeping it at half.

Yeah, it's been awhile for me too. The last time, though, I got lucky. I happened to run out on the interstate going downhill. So I just put it in neutral and let it coast, all the way to the gas station, just off the next exit.

Well Adam, you were so lucky. Though it's a bit risky to put the car in neutral while going downhill. But it's much better than to walk miles to and from the gas station.

I've always been really lucky with gas. I've come extremely close to running out of gas but it's never actually happened to me. I don't know if I'm just lucky or if it's because I keep semi-good track of my gas. Not sure.
