Default Retread Tires

Has anyone ever tried retread tires? I'm sort of cautious and don't really want to go this route although we do need new tires. I've always seen the retreads coming off at the most inopportune times. What cha think?

I've used re-treads many a time, with no problems. Really some people dislike them but if you aren't a race driver, then you are fine-and a re-tread is better than driving with bald tires.

That does surprise me. You'd think the bigger vehicles would be the ones most likely to suffer a blow out so would be the least likely to use re-treads. But hey, if it helps to keep shipping costs down its good!

I remember my mom got some retreads once and the tires were actually rotten! That was not too cool. I know it was just a bad dealer, but that always left a bad image in my mind, so no retreads for me.

Thanks guys. I really need to save some money and these are going to cost a whole lot less than brand new ones. I can't risk running on my old baldies anymore so I'm going to go for it. As long as they run for a while, maybe I can trade up eventually.
