I just heard something I didn't know. If your car is sinking in the water, you have to wait until it is totally submerged to be able to open the doors. If there's still a pocket of air left, the doors won't open. Is this true?
It sounds about right because of air pressure issues and such. As I have never been in a sinking car I wouldn't know for sure though. I would probably try rolling the window down before I would try to get out the door anyway.
Mythbusters actually did a show on this and found that it was true! Remain calm inside the car until the car is submerged, then open the door, stay calm while water comes in until you're able to push against the pressure and get out. If you open the door before you are submerged, the car fills with water faster and sinks faster.
