Default Too funny

My buddy's kid is old enough and big enough not to require a car or booster seat anymore: at 9, the kid is a bruiser.

What made me laugh is that the kid is attached to the booster seat in his Mom's van, and will NOT give it up or stop using it.

Then again, if the kid is afraid of growing up, maybe it's not so funny.....

Could there be an issue if he is in it when he should not be, like a chance to be injured from it? That would kind of worry me as a parent.

Yes, there can be a safety issue if a child outgrows a safety seat and still sits in it. It all depends on what kind of booster seat it is. If it has a back and the child's head is over the top they can get head injuries and whip-lash.

At least the kid wants to stay safe. One of my kids keeps unbuckling in the car. I pull over every time but it makes me late to stuff.

Oh no, that is no good. You do the right thing by pulling over. Don't give up, over time you will win and they will do what you are asking. Have you explained the safety issues?

This is something I worry about when I see big kids in booster seats. I understand that kids get attached to things and maybe there is just something about the booster seat he likes - being taller or having a more comfortable seat belt or something.
