Default Traffic Jams and Science

I found an article about the science behind traffic jams. Pretty interesting stuff, there! I never really thought about it having scientific applications before.

The sad fact is that traffic jams could be avoided by people simply leaving a more reasonable gap between them and the next car. Like this, there is room to buffer any changes, like when the car in front brakes.
