Default Windshield laws

I was buying a winds shield and the technician was making a big fuss about how there had to be so many inches of a certain color tint to it. Is that part of state law?

Every state has tinting laws. Some states require 3-4 inches blue tint at the top or bottom to keep glare away. What you wan't to avoid is tinting a windshield so that it can not be seen through. A certain amount of light must be able to get through depending on what state you are in.
