My wife always gives me grief when I use the wipers when there is some ice present on the windshield saying that wrecks the rubber. Do you think it wrecks them?

When I lived in the north I used them on the ice. I would defrost and clear the melted ice with the wipers until it was all gone. Maybe it does wreck them, but I wouldn't know for sure. Maybe just use your scraper, then brush it and then use the wipers to get her off your back about it.

I do not use my windshield wipers on ice, because it never seems to do any good. I imagine, ice would dull the wiper blades quite a bit.

I don't use them on the ice because it can rip them or dull them. I use my scraper to scrape the ice and the window defroster to melt it.

I think it does wreck them (or so I tell my husband when he does the same thing). Sometimes the wiper grabs because it's frozen onto the windshield. You should not use the wipers until the windshield is clear.

OK. So I guess the jury has decided this case. I'll stop using the wipers on ice, and I'll even tell my wife she can say "Told you so!"
