Default FIAT back in production

I had a love affair with one of Fiat's products, back in the early 1980's: I discovered a little 2-seat convertible coupe they called an X1/9. Go ahead and chuckle, but I've driven a lot of extremely capable-handling vehicles, and that stupid little piece of crap out-handled everything I'd drive up until that point. It goes down as being the biggest miser on gas I've ever encountered, too.

I hear tell that FIAT is back to making little commuter cars; the Smart Car seats two (some of them seat four).... I think that body design (X1/9) still suits most folks' tastes.

BRING BACK THE X1/9!!!

I'd buy one, I really would. That silly little thing was the most fun to drive, and it could really scoot in the first 3 gears.

It seems that small, eco friendly smart cars are the main trend these days for most car manufacturers, especially with everyone being more conscious about petrol consumption and the effects on the environment. Still, driving those classic cars does bring back feelings of nostalgia.

The X1/9 was a neat little car. I remember when we used to drive around in one back when they were popular. My high school buddies and I would take turns driving it everywhere. It needed a little panel work but it sustained our abusive driving pretty well lol. I wonder what happened to it...

I had to look that up, I had never heard of that make and model, let alone seen one.

Mid-engine? Two trunks in something that small?

Bringing that back may not be the worst idea, Dodge Doll.

Yey! Long live to Fiats! I love small cars especially the new Fiats. I only drive around the city so small fiat is ideal for me.

I'm curious though because you mentioned Smart Car for two/four. Here in the UK they are made by MB.

Smart Cars are sold by MB in Canada. We saw quite a few of them during the Olympics, they look so tiny compared to the other vehicles on the road!

I owned this exact one, only I had MoMo mags with Pirelli's on it, and quad pipes out the back...

It's still probably the most fun I've had driving a car, I really wish it would come back.
