Default Mitsubishi iMiEV electric car

Queensland's RACQ will put the Mitsubishi iMiEV, the first mass-produced electric car sold in Australia, through real life performance tests over the next three years, including reliability, range, power consumption and running costs. It uses a lithium-ion battery system, and its top speed is 130 km/h.

It'll be interesting to see how it will compare to hybrid and petrol cars.

I heard about this car. It's powered by a 47 kW permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, which delivers instant maximum torque for acceleration. The batteries last about 160km on a full charge.

Perhaps we'll be seeing a lot more electric cars on the road soon. I wonder how much one of these cost...
