The EPA reports that since 2005, CO2 emissions have steadily decreased and fuel economy has been improving. But why has it taken so long? Seems we could have done more sooner.....................
People didn't think it was that big a deal, and when they finally did think it was, it took a while to instigate big enough changes. Now that we have a generation growing up with knowledge about environmental preservation, we'll be more likely to have better and bigger ideas as time goes by.
It is amazing that Brazil thought of this before us. They now use biodiesel in most of their cars and don't depend on oil for them. I think they are doing better economically in difficult times than we are. It is true that their economic classes are more marked than here in the USA, but I think they are doing better than people give them credit for.
Everything, throughout time, has become "new and improved", but at the same time, it was always the best thing on the market! I think the emission problem was something that took a while to notice.
