Default Volt Looks Good But Will It Fly?

What do you think? It's got electric power but then you can switch to gas to extend the range of the vehicle. Not completely an electric car yet but with no charging stations around, looks like this is going to be it for a while. Do you think this one will fly with consumers or will they pass it up instead for a conventional vehicle? It's not being called a hybrid but instead an extended range electric car.

More people are beginning to buy cars, and maybe with the increased push to go green, and with some financial incentives for this kind of thing, it could take off. I wouldn't be surprised.

Hey, if it FLIES too-----that would REALLY make it hybrid, wouldn't it?! (We laugh now, but I'll bet that someday Chevrolet will be competing to get the FV off the ground.)

I think I would feel more comfortable having an option to switch to gas, so that I could go further. I would hate to have to wait somewhere hours for my car to charge up.

I don't think I would mind it. The only question I have about electric vehicles is, will they have a battery that dies every three years or so? I know that my cell phones dies and it's usually cheaper to replace the thing than to buy a new battery. Do you think they would have the same problem with the battery in this thing?

I think Chevy's current strategy with the Volt will set more people at ease over the limited range issue. The lack of charging stations is a very practical aspect that consumers have not overlooked.
