Did you know in the past two years the US government has purchased over 14,500 hybrid vehicles for the government fleet? How do you feel about your tax dollars being spent this way?

If they were going to buy vehicles for the fleet anyway, and it came to choosing between regular cars or hybrids, I'm glad they went with hybrids. I agree that some spending is unnecessary, and perhaps some of those cars weren't needed, but unless I can see a detailed report of what each vehicle is needed for I have no way of knowing.

I am glad they are spending it that way. There are a lot of things that tax dollars are spent on that I hate. But this is one of the things that really puts a smile on my face.

I love the idea. Now if they just did it to be buying the cars without the need being their then it was a waste of taxpayer dollars. If they did the purchasing by attrition then it's fine. I think we could save a bunch of money if they just fired a lot of the self officious government officials who don't do anything except eat and waste space.

I checked this out. The hybrid vehicles the government bought were replacement vehicles for the government fleet, which took lots of gas powered cars off the road. I think it's great.
