Default Measuring Fuel Efficiency

How do you measure fuel efficiency? I'm doing it the "crude" way. I divide the change in odometer reading by the amount of fuel consumed between the distance covered, usually in between two full tanks.

Are there other ways of measuring fuel efficiency faster than what I do?

I have a trip tachometer that I set to zero each time I fill my tank. Then I divide the total miles I drove by the amount of gas I put in the tank. Pretty much how you do it.
