Default Spark Plugs

How much to spark plugs affect performance? I'm pretty sure my car has had the same spark plugs since it was made, and my mechanic mentioned that I should probably pick up some new ones for it to improve my ride. Is that really necessary?

Changing the spark plugs was one of the things included when I first got my new-used car serviced (it was my first when I was a teen). The car felt like it performed better, but I'm sure it was a combination of the whole service package.

Over time like most things you will want to replace them, along with the distributor cap. Standard spark plugs should be changed around every 50,000 miles with platinum spark plugs you may be able to double that.
