One day I hope to have a midlife crisis where I get to by myself a nice zippy little sports cars. Used to be the only wan to go was a manual because performance was better. Now there are some cars, like the 7AT, where the automatic gets great performance. What do you think?
The last time I saw this question it turned in to a huge debate. Honestly I do not think there is a huge difference performance wise. The reason being is that the manual allows for human error where the automatic is idiot proof. So what ever performance advantage you have with a manual averages out when you consider that humans are the drivers.
Performance-wise, they're probably pretty comparable. But FUN-wise is another story. When comparing awesomeness, I would have to vote for the manual transmission every time!

This is exactly what I was going to say! I get so bored driving a manual regularly as it is - I want the fun and excitement factor to be maximized if I have a sports car. Manual all the way!
Haha. My thoughts were pretty much focused on performance but if there is not much difference I think I will have to go with the awesomeness factor. I mean, if I am going to have a mid life crisis and get a sports car then it needs to be fun!
