Default Strictly Either 1.4L M/T or 1.6L A/T

The person I was talking to in a car display in the mall was a salesman. He couldn't explain to me why his company is selling only two versions of the sedan: either a 1.4L M/T or 1.6L A/T. I asked if I can have a 1.6L M/T. He told me sorry they didn't have that.

Any idea why a company would sell cars this way?
