Does anyone actually notice a difference in the performance of their car when using premium gas? I feel like a lot of people who think they do are just having almost like a "placebo effect" in medicine trials - it is insinuated that the car will perform better, so they think it is.
Premium gas leaves less gunk in your engine, so over time if two of the same cars, one using regular and one using premium, were compared next to each other you would see that the car using premium was more efficient and performed better than the car using regular.
Besides the gunk you will see a difference in the MPG you actually end up getting. I remember using the cheaper stuff when I was younger, fresh out of school and poor for lack of a better term. It really was not worth it in the long run with as much traveling that I put on my car.
I've never seen a difference in the cars I drive. But then again, I don't consistently use premium grade gasoline. If you use an additive in your gas, I don't think it makes a difference what grade gas you use.
