Do you get into this kind of practice? A friend of mine who owns some vintage cars has ever bought another old car and used it merely as a source of spare parts for his other cars.
This is normal for vintage cars, really. The reason for that is the unavailability of spare parts. If a spare part happens to be available, it tends to be expensive because it's out of production. Some may even be museum material already.
Yes, this practice is very common, and even necessary to get a vintage car completely restored. It's sad to have to do this, in a way. I wish that someone would make the parts so that we could just order them, instead of having to destroy a potentially good restoration vehicle.
