Default An engine overhaul?

I wonder how to tell if your car needs an engine overhaul. Do you think you need to set a fixed schedule for that, like every five years or so?

No, I don't think that a schedule is needed. I would simply listen to my mechanic, and do it when there were enough problems occurring that suggested that it needed to be done.
