Default Maintaining Car Window Mechanisms

I have no idea how car window mechanisms are being maintained. Do dealerships check them during maintenance schedules? I mean, how do we make sure that they don't all of a sudden "refuse" to close one rainy afternoon in a public parking space.

It is awfully frustrating to have a non-working window. You don't realize how often you use your window until it doesn't work, and then try to buy a milkshake, feed a toll, catch a breeze, ask for directions... (well, maybe not that last one so much ).

I'm glad I'm not alone. Windows, I admit, used to be the last thing in mind to worry about. That attitude ended when during a hectic day my window wouldn't close. A malfunctioning window was the last thing I needed that time. I actually asked how an "insignificant" part of the car could ruin one's day.
