Default Not deploy airbag

We are going to work on the Chevy again. The last time we tore the dashboard apart to change the blower motor we were worried about deploying the passenger side airbag.

Is there any way we can stop this from happening? Like a switch or something easy?

There should be a switch for the passenger side. Haul out the owners manual and check it out. If you can't find out anything there, call the local Chevy dealer and ask one of the mechanics. They should be able to tell you where it is if it has one.
