Default Rear window wiper

My mom drives a mini-van, and in cold weather her rear wiper does not push on the window hard enough to wipe the window. It leaves gaps and streaks. This is not a problem in warm weather. Is there a type of wiper that pushes harder, or a wiper built for cold weather?

There's a spring that pushes the wiper towards the window. When this weakens (through normal wear and tear) then what you have just described happens. See if that spring can be replaced. If not, I suggest you replace the entire wiper.
