Default Replacing a Windshield

Someone broke my windshield and now I'm going to have to replace it. Usually, I do the work on my vehicles myself, but I don't want to chance getting it wrong. Does anyone have any tips for selecting a body shop?

Wow, that's a bummer! I would recommend looking for an auto glass place rather than a body shop. The people who are well-versed in changing windshields will be able to get it done more quickly and with better quality than those who don't deal regularly with them, in my experience.

I would also recommend finding someone who installs auto glass regularly. I had a windshield installed once and it leaked. They fixed the leak, but it would have been so much better if it had been done right in the first place.

I would however source one from a breakers rather than get a new one. Getting a used screen fitted is far cheaper than having a brand new one fitted, unless your insurance covers it.

If you can find a surplus glass, it may be worth the effort. Brand new ones are costly. I'm not sure about approaching glass shops for this. I'm more inclined to suggest auto shops just the same. Back to surplus glass, I'm quite confident that the shop owner would install the glass for you.
