My friend has an auto repair rule he said he lives with: keep simple things simple, something is not always so complicated as it may seem. It wouldn't work for those who know almost nothing about car repair (like me) though.
This a good and fair rule. I think that most repair places do the complete opposite. They try to make everything as complicated as possible so people end up spending more money than really necessary.
