My new car, the seat moves forward and back on it's frame a few millimeters in use. I hate it, and I fear the safety. How big a job is it, for a shop to do? Pennies are tight.

That sounds uncomfortable, at the very least! Could you check the bolts around the bottom of the seat and just make sure they are tight?

I agree-it's likely to be that a bolt or something has come loose. Check it out-you might be able to sort it out by yourself and not have to pay out.

I would not fool with it myself only because I have issues being stuck in funny curled up positions while I creep into my old age.

I wouldn't think it would cost nearly that much to check out though, get a few estimates.
