Default Seriously serpentine belt?

I have no idea what I am doing wrong but its the 3rd time this has happened, the darn serpentine belt keeps popping off. The first time it happened I was freaking on on my way home with a child in the car going up a huge hill and then poof no power steering. Anyone have this happen with a certain type of vehicle?

Yes, and it probably is nothing you're doing. The most likely problems causing this are: a loose bolt, allowing the belt to become too loose; a leak, causing the belt to get slippery; or a faulty belt.

Wow. That would be really irritating, to have to keep dealing with that! I hope you can find the reason and get it fixed pretty quickly!

Thanks for posting about the power steering - I had no idea what a serpentine belt was. To answer this, I've never had this happen to me. How scary that must have been driving up a hill and then losing your steering!

I had also never heard of a serpentine belt before. Is this something that you can easily put back on yourself if it falls off? If you are having to take it to someone to be fixed, you would think they would have told you why this keeps happening!

Well power steering is only one thing that could go wrong and it was horrible driving home one day seeing as we live on a windy curved and steep hill. We are going to get it going today, yesterday we were kidnapped by friends for a lunch that ran way too late to get back here and do anything to the car. And in 3 years its happened about three times.
