Default The strangest problem I've ever had.

So,
(Ugh) I drive a 92 Pontiac Sunbird, 3.1L V6. I was having troubles starting it than one day it just refused to start. No cranks only the fuel pump activated and the starter clicked. I replaced the starter. I hook it up and when to connect the battery to complete the job as soon as the circuit was complete the engine began to crank and turn. There was no key in the ignition! It didn't stop no matter what I did (except disconnect the battery).

What's going on? I have a complete ideas but not sure where to start.

I think you're starter might be hooked up incorrectly. I'm not familiar with that vehicle but there may be a wire loose or touching something it shouldn't be. Is the starter second hand?
