Default Tire Tread Depth

How often do you check that your tires are ok? Are you aware of the tread depth needed, and the proper pressure for inside the tires?

I check monthly and my auto shop checks when they service the car. As for pressure, I know what it should be and I check visually frequently, and when I fill up at the place that has free air, I use their machine.

I haven't been paying attention tot he tire thread depth lately. The last six months it has only been checked when I change the oil. I kind of know how the tires look when they need a little air and I stop at the garage and check. I know I should be more mindful because gas efficiency depends on this little detail too.

As for the tread depth, I know it's about time to buy new tires when it rains, and I can feel the tires trying to hydroplane. I don't wait for my tires to start showing the tread bar across the tires, or until Lincoln's head doesn't show. If I ever start to hydroplane, it's time for new tires. As for air, my mechanic checks them every time I get the oil changed.
