My windshield took a stone last week and it started out looking like just a little star. In a week there is a crack line about 4 inches long. Is that a simple repair and can I nip this in the bud?

It probably would have been better to have taken care of it right away. The bigger the crack gets, the more expensive the repair. I'd get a windshield guy out to look or take it in pronto.

Mario, just have your windshield replaced. I know it would cost you something. But think about getting distracted by that crack in the middle of a fast lane.

Get it taken care of asap. Do not splash with water on a cold morning either, like to try and wash away the morning dew. I've heard of several people doing this and cracking it further.

I do see some people who keep on using windshields damaged that way. They put packaging tapes on the damaged part. If budget is an issue, I understand. But I still suggest they change it for their sake and for the sake of any human being who might happen to be behind whatever blind spot the packaging tapes add.

I took it in. The windshield will need to be replaced, but I was advised to wait until spring because the odds are good I could take another stone in the winter.
