Default Afraid of Clay Bars

The use of clay bars has been recommended as I have some stains. But I'm afraid of going too deep, or having a bit of something on the bar and scratching it. What do I do to keep it safe?

The biggest thing is to keep the bar clean. If you drop it, throw it away, don't reuse it. At least, I wouldn't do so. Otherwise, just go easy-you'll know when you're going too far.

Like DNADriver said, keep the bar clean, drop it - toss it. Kneed the bar often. Also keep the surface wet with the lube. Do not let it dry while you are working on it.
