I have a 2001 Honda Civic which is starting to lose it's clear coat. It looks horrible! The hood is the worst place. It's a 4door Sedan EX and it's a dark blue. The clear coat started flaking off a bit back in January but now it's peeling off. What would cause this?
Weather I am guessing. Do you live where they use salt for the roads? Could this be causing the clear coat to wear off? I would take it in and get more put on before you get a rust problem.
Yeah, I live up north and we have lots of salt on the roads in the winter time. I'm going to have to get the whole thing repainted I guess. It's still in excellent shape and I don't want to sell it. It's still a great car so I'm going to try to get estimates and see what I can do.
I'm going to give this car to my daughter for college so I'm going to have it painted. She wants it to be a different color so I've got some decent estimates and we're going ahead with the painting.
