Default Clear Nail Polish

Is it possible to use clear nail polish on a scratch so it won't rust? I came out of the store yesterday and noticed someone had left me a scratch in my door. I plan on getting it fixed but not until this summer.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I would try testing it in an inconspicuous spot before using on the damaged spot. There's a possibility it may be incompatible with the clearcoat on the car and make a bigger problem.

I would be reluctant to use the nail polish. Better to use something designed for vehicles like touch up paint or even some good car wax on that spot.

Don't use nail polish! There are some really harsh solvents in there, there really might damage the clear coat, or the paint itself. You're better off getting a scratch repair kit for under $20 and using that-especially if you'll eventually get it done.

The other thing is that the nail polish just won't last. If you get it on there, and get it to match then that's great. But it will fade in the sun, and will chip far easier than proper paint does.
