Default Loose Decal

The decal stripe on my car is slowly flaking off. I hate to see it but I don't know how to stop it. It's 12 years old but I wouldn't have expected the decal to flake off since it was put on at the factory. It wasn't a retrofit.

The glue that is used to put those decals on tends to dry out and get flaky with sun exposure and other things like that. My suggestion would be to use a razor blade to carefully remove the whole thing, if you don't want a flaking stripe on the car.

Removing the decal would leave a nasty stripe color on the car. You can bring your car to a detailing shop and they can give some good advice on how to repair or fix the decal problem.

You should get a pro to replace it. Roller is correct, the paint on your car would have faded over 12 years and you'll have a horrible stripe. It sounds like it has to come off, good news is you need a new one in it's place so you won't have to miss it for long!
